B Lab Hong Kongは、地元のパートナーと協力し、この夏に香港の小学校で「フィジタル・ウクレレ・ワークショップ」を開催しました。このワークショップでは、音楽、メタバース、そして手工芸の要素を取り入れ、香港の小学生にとって動的でインタラクティブな体験を提供することを目指しました。
フィジタル・ウクレレ・ワークショップ – STEAMからメタバースへ
ワークショップは4日間にわたり開催され、15名の熱心な生徒が参加しました。最初の2日間は、「メイカー・ウクレレ・セット」を使用してオリジナルのウクレレを作成し、音楽レッスンで基本的なウクレレのコードを学ぶことに焦点を当てました。ワークショップ終了時には、生徒たちは自作のウクレレで簡単なメロディーを自信を持って演奏できるようになりました。
次の2日間は、ウクレレのデザインを基にしたボクセルアートの作成に取り組みました。「VoxEdit」という3Dモデリングソフトウェアの操作を学ぶレッスンを通じて、生徒たちは自分のウクレレをデジタルの世界へと持ち込みました。
ワークショップ終了後、作成されたボクセルアートは、学生たちの革新的な作品を展示するインタラクティブなデジタル展示エリアであるメタバース体験で公開されます。この展示を通じて、学生たちの想像力と創造力を示す作品は、世界中の観客に鑑賞されることになります。
生徒たちの可能性を育む
生徒たちが独自のフィジカルとデジタルのウクレレ作りを楽しんでいる様子を見られて、大変嬉しく思います。このワークショップは、生徒たちの芸術的な才能を育むだけでなく、従来の学校教育では学べない新しい技術への興味も刺激しました。
特に注目すべき点として、伝統的な美術においては必ずしも優れた成績を残せない生徒でも、新しいデジタルツールを使うことで驚くべき作品を作り出せることがわかりました。これは、生徒たちが自己表現し創造力を発揮できるよう、多様なツールを提供する重要性を示しています。この経験が、生徒たちが自分の可能性を探求し、自らの才能に自信を持つための力となることを私たちは信じています。
今後の展望
B Lab Hong Kongは今後も、教育者がさまざまな学習ツールやメディアを統合するための手本となるような実践的なプロジェクトを提供し続けます。生徒たちの独自の作品をフィジカルとデジタルの両方で発表することで、私たちは未来を形作るテクノロジーに精通した新世代の育成を目指します。
In collaboration with local partners, B Lab Hong Kong hosted the engaging “Phygital Ukulele Workshop” at a Hong Kong primary school this summer. We integrated elements of music, metaverse and handicrafts in the workshop, hoping to create a dynamic and interactive activity for Hong Kong primary school students.
Phygital Ukulele Workshop – From STEAM to Metaverse
The workshop spanned 4 days and attracted 15 enthusiastic students to join our learning journey. The sessions on the first 2 days focused on building their original ukulele by using our “Maker Ukulele Set”, and mastering basic ukulele chords through a music lesson. By the end of the workshop, students could confidently play simple melodies with their handmade ukuleles.
The following 2 days were dedicated to creating the voxel art based on their ukulele designs. With the lesson of teaching the operation of 3D modeling software named “VoxEdit”, students brought their ukuleles to the digital world.
After finishing the workshop, students’ voxel art would be exhibited on the metaverse experience, which is an interactive digital exhibition area showcasing all innovative works done by students. With this exhibition, students’ artworks, demonstrating their imagination and creative potential, could be viewed by the global audience.
Develop students’ potentials
We are delighted to see how students enjoy building their unique physical and digital ukulele. The workshop not only nurtured students’ artistic talents but also ignited their curiosity for new technologies beyond the conventional school curriculum.
It is remarkable to mention that although some students might not excellently perform in traditional visual art, they can create amazing artwork with the new digital tools. It highlights the importance of providing diverse tools to students’ for self-expression and fostering creativity. We believe that this experience would also empower them to explore their potential and gain confidence in their talents.
In the future, B Lab Hong Kong would continue offering similar hands-on projects that inspire educators to integrate different learning tools and media. By showcasing students’ unique artworks in both physical and digital realms, we strive to cultivate a new generation of tech-savvy individuals poised to shape the future.
