ニューロダイバーシティプロジェクト第一弾 「みんなの脳世界～ニューロダイバーシティ展2023～」を9月17日(日)・18日(月祝)に開催！

B Labは、人間の脳や神経はとても多様で各々が独自の特徴を持っており、それらの違いを強みとして生かしていこうという「ニューロダイバーシティ」の考えを国内に浸透させるべく、「ニューロダイバーシティプロジェクト」を発足します。本プロジェクトは、日本を代表するさまざまな大学・研究所・企業が参画し共同でプロジェクトの推進に取り組んでいます。

ニューロダイバーシティプロジェクトの活動の第一弾として、イベント『ちょっと先のおもしろい未来　–CHANGE TOMORROW-』内で展示「みんなの脳世界〜ニューロダイバーシティ展2023〜」を開催します（日程：2023年9月17日(日)・18日(月祝)）。本展示では、体験を通して私たちの感覚は多様であることを知る機会を提供します。そして、その個人差はテクノロジーにより補完や拡張が可能であり、また既存の環境を調整することで、すべての人がちからを発揮できるニューロダイバーシティ社会の実現が可能であることを伝え、ニューロダイバーシティ社会の構築を目指していきます。

■ニューロダイバーシティプロジェクトについて

B Labは、ひとりひとりがそれぞれの場所で各々の「ちから」を発揮できる社会の構築を目指して、ニューロダイバーシティプロジェクトを発足します。

社会には「生きづらさ」を抱えている人が多くいます。どうにも人とうまく付き合えず、どうにも社会と折り合いがつかず、居場所がなく、苦しんでいます。そこには脳の多様性が背景にあることが明らかになってきました。そして、十分に「ちから」を発揮できず、様々な場面で困難に直面してしまうと、個人の特性が問題かのように捉えられることが多くあります。私たちの脳はとても多様です。私たちは誰もが独自の特徴を持っています。これをニューロダイバーシティと言います。この独自の特徴を持っていることで、現代社会では生きづらさを感じている人たちが存在します。

しかし、人々が抱える「生きづらさ」は、個人の特性と環境の相互作用によって生じるものだと私たちは考えます。個人の特性を尊重し、適切な環境を整えることで、「弱み」「生きづらい」とされていたものを「強み」「生きやすい」に変えることができるのです。

ニューロダイバーシティプロジェクトの活動の第一弾として、展示「みんなの脳世界〜ニューロダイバーシティ展2023〜」の開催が決定しました。展示「みんなの脳世界」では、身近な体験を通して、技術や環境の変化によって生きづらさや弱みが、生きやすさや強みに変わることを知ってもらう機会を提供します。

First Neurodiversity Project, “The Brain Worlds of Everyone – Neurodiversity Exhibition 2023” to Be Held on September 17 (Sun) and 18 (Mon, Public Holiday)!

B Lab will be launching the Neurodiversity Project in order to spread the idea of neurodiversity in Japan, an idea which argues that the human brain and nervous system are very diverse, each with its own unique characteristics, and that these differences should be utilized as strengths. Various leading Japanese universities, research institutes, and companies are participating in and working together to promote this project.

As the first activity of the Neurodiversity Project, “The Brain Worlds of Everyone – Neurodiversity Exhibition 2023” will be held at the Change Tomorrow event (Dates: September 17 (Sun) and 18 (Mon, public holiday), 2023). This exhibition provides visitors with an opportunity to learn through experience that our senses are diverse. We also aim to create a neurodiverse society by conveying that individual differences can be complemented and expanded through technology, and that by adjusting the existing environment, it is possible to create a neurodiverse society in which everyone can demonstrate their full potential.

■About Neurodiversity Project
B Lab is launching the Neurodiversity Project with the aim of building a society in which each individual can demonstrate their “ability” in their respective places.
There are many people in society who find it “difficult to live”. They suffer from the inability to get along well with others, the inability to come to terms with society, and without a place where they can be themselves. It has become clear that the diversity of the brain is behind this. When they are unable to fully demonstrate their “ability” and face difficulties in various situations, their personal characteristics are often seen as the “problem”.

Our brains are very diverse. We all have unique characteristics. This is called neurodiversity. These unique characteristics also makes it difficult for some people to live in modern society.

However, we believe that the “difficulty in living” that these people face is a result of the interaction between individual characteristics and the environment. By respecting individual characteristics and creating an appropriate environment, what was once considered a “weakness” or something “difficult to live with” can be turned into a “strength” or something “easy to live with”.

The Brain Worlds of Everyone – Neurodiversity Exhibition 2023 will be held as the first activity of the Neurodiversity Project. The Brain Worlds of Everyone exhibit will provide an opportunity for visitors to learn through familiar experiences how changes in technology and the environment can transform a weakness or something difficult to live with into a strength or something easy to live with.
